【摘要】:Thisguideprovidesthreemethodsfordeterminingthesuitabilityofaburiedsteeltanktobeupgradedwithcathodicprotection.ThisguidemaybeusedtoassessanyUST,includingnon-regulatedUSTs.Thisguideprovidesthreealternativemethodsbutdoesnotrecommendanyspecificmethodorapplication.Theresponsibilityforselectionofamethodrestswiththeuser.Thisguidehasspecificrequirementsforvendorprovidedinformationwhichshouldberequestedandreviewedbytheuser.1.1Thisguidecoversprocedurestobeimplementedpriortotheapplicationofcathodicprotectionforevaluatingthesuitabilityofatankforupgradingbycathodicprotectionalone.1.2ThreeproceduresaredescribedandidentifiedasMethodsA,B,andC.1.2.1MethodANoninvasivewithprimaryemphasisonstatisticalandelectrochemicalanalysisofexternalsiteenvironmentcorrosiondata.1.2.2MethodBInvasiveultrasonicthicknesstestingwithexternalcorrosionevaluation.1.2.3MethodCInvasivepermanentlyrecordedvisualinspectionandevaluationincludingexternalcorrosionassessment.1.3Thisguidepresentsthemethodologyandtheproceduresutilizingsiteandtankspecificdatafordeterminingatank'sconditionandthesuitabilityforsuchtankstobeupgradedwithcathodicprotection.1.4Thetank'sconditionshallbeassessedusingMethodA,B,orC.Priortoassessingthetank,apreliminarysitesurveyshallbeperformedpursuanttoSectionandthetankshallbetightnesstestedpursuanttotoestablishthatthetankisnotleaking.1.5Whilethisguideprovidesminimumproceduresforassessingatank'scondition,thisguidedoesnotprovideminimuminstallationproceduresorrequirementsforupgradesofthetankbycathodicprotection.1.6Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.TheSIunitsgiveninparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
